Sadly the London Borough of Barnet has one of the worst records for road safety in the Greater London area, second only to Westminster. In a study published in August 2009 by the Road Safety Unit of TFL (Transport For London), Barnet had 1,222 road casualties in 2008 including, sadly, 15 fatalities.  Click here to read a copy of the report.

As we talk to people across East Barnet Ward we come across people with ideas about how to improve road safety in their immediate vicinity but who feel that the Council is very slow to respond or act upon such suggestions.  We feel that local people, working in conjunction with their neighbours, are often best placed to identify road safety problems and potential solutions.
